The 911 (pronounced nine-eleven, for the uninitiated) is Porsche’s legacy. The car that made them who they are still continues to be the leader in their expanding fleet.

Now Malaysian Porsche enthusiasts can rub their hands together and lick their lips because Sime Darby Auto Performance has just pulled the veil off three variations of the newest generation 911. The 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S were unveiled to much fanfare and excitement, in conjunction with the 24 hours Le Mans race weekend.

Unsurprisingly, each additional letter and numeral after “Carrera” denotes a higher performance marker, but at its core the 911 runs on a new three-litre six-cylinder flat engine with twin-turbo chargers. With improvements all-round under the hood, the Porches now manage top speeds of 293 km/h for the Carrera, 306 km/h for the Carrera S and 303 km/h for the Carrera 4S.

The cars also benefit from the new Porsche Active Suspension Management chassis, which lowers the ride height by ten millimetres and improves stability during fast cornering.

On the exterior, the 911 features a new headlight design with four-point daytime running lights as well as new rear lights – including the distinctive four-point brake lights. Inside, the new Porsche Communication Management allows for online navigation module and can be operated by performing multi-touch gestures on the seven-inch display or by voice control.

The 911 wasn’t the only Porsche to roll off the blocks; the Macan GTS also made its local debut. Once referred to as the Cayenne Junior, the compact crossover has come quite the distance in just a few years. The motor racing inspired GTS injects the Macan with all the right kind of steroids. Packing a three-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that produces 360 hp, less than the Macan Turbo but still enough to go from 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 256km/h.

It also comes with the new PASM chassis that lowers the car by 15 millimetres as it sits on 20-inch wheels.

The Macan GTS retails on-the-road from RM710,000. The 911 Carrera on the other hand retails from RM870,000, while the Carrera S retails from RM970,000 and the Carrera 4S retails from RM1,040,000. All cars come with a four-year warranty and free maintenance package.
