Dusk was settling, and I was enjoying vestiges of a Langkawi sunset. Barely 4 hours had passed since I left the muggy Kuala Lumpur for the shores of The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, for a midweek getaway. My bare feet treaded powdery warm sand and salty sea breeze tickled my skin as I made my way to Jala, for a welcome dinner to mark my 2-night trip.
Trips like these are reminders of the treasures in our backyard. Embracing the island’s moniker as ‘the jewel of Kedah’, The Andaman converges the best of a 10-million-year-old rainforest at Datai Bay with an 8,000-year-old coral reef, in the luxury of 5-star amenities. The moment I arrived at the hotel foyer, The Andaman’s general manager, Carlos Tarrero, and his team had turned the work trip into a vacation I needed.
