Review: The Mandarin Oriental KL Facial Spa That Instantly Wipes Age & Fatigue Off Your Face

Having experienced some of The Spa’s exceptional body treatments in the past, we were thrilled at the prospect of a facial by haute French skincare brand Biologique Recherche. The Booster treatment would only take an hour and a half, with the promise to recharge our batteries and uplift tired skin, instantly.

Before treatment commenced, Dr Stefan Lipp, a fellow doctor at Biologique Recherche Paris, for an introduction to the brand and the new La Grande Crème. As the latest member to the professional skincare line, the exquisite cream addresses age-related phenomena through observing genetic patterns of individual skin. The cutting-edge EpigenActiv of La Grande Crème possesses the clinical and professional expertise in modern beauty's skin-ageing concerns.

Face-mapping

A preliminary to La Grande Crème’s bespoke treatments calls for a Skin Instant assessment – the friendly therapist began by examining the 5 conditions of our skin, explaining the levels of hydration, trans-epidermal water loss, elasticity, pigmentation and sebum controls. Individual results would indicate the specific skincare the therapist should use for current skin conditions.

Tailored To Your Skin Type

Biologue’s Recherche’s pampering specialty lies in a meticulous process of cleansing care, lotion P50T, a Soin Restructurant et Lissant, mask, Quintessential serums, cream and finishing serum. Products used are tailored to skin’s needs, but procedures and application methods remain the same. My therapist informed me that my combination skin needs deep oxygen circulation, and and noted my skin concerns for tired eyes and dark circles.

Settling In: The Initialisation

The 2-part Booster facial is divided into the initialisation and treatment stages: Initialisation targets the skin’s outer layer. The attendant lathered the creamy Lait U to cleanse away makeup and impurities, before the Lotion P50T – a 50-day treatment –was smoothed over skin for thorough purification of the epidermis. Next, the Soin Restructrant Et Lissant Booster skillfully massaged from the décolleté up to the forehead in rhythmic movements designed to relax, sculpt and purify the face area. A Masque Visolastine and its radiance-enhancing properties presently enveloped the skin.

A Treatment For Deep Relaxation

Mind and body positively pampered now, it was time for the deeply nourishing treatment to commence. The therapist, who gently explained every procedure, applied the moisturising Serum Extraits Tissualaires, then kneaded the problematic eye area with the brightening Serum Oligo-Proteines Marines. As the facial wound down, the therapist spread on the Crème Contour de Yeux VIP O2 to further depuff the tired eye area, and a Crème au Collagène Marin to tone the complexion. Having absorbed all the goodness, we tried on the anticipated La Grande Crème, a milky texture that targets the onslaught of ageing – in this case, dark spots, fine lines, and uneven skin tone. As for the fininshing serum, the therapist applied the Fluide VIP O2 to smoothened skin, before lathering on 2 suncare products.

Lingering Pluses

With finality to my Biologique Recherche Booster treatment, a mirror was placed before me to unveil that, contrary to an inner fatigue, my complexion was remarkably aglow. All good things end, but this story has a happy one: One week on, and my skin has never looked brighter, contoured and supple.
