Cinephiles, take note
Since reopening on July 1, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and Aurum Theatre have had over a combined total of 150,000 admissions – proof of how much movie lovers have missed the big screen while in quarantine.
Despite the postponement of several tentpole movies like Disney’s live action Mulan and Wonder Woman 1984, GSC's CEO Koh Mei Lee is optimistic about the new independent titles being screened this month, as well as the recent release of Train to Busan: Peninsula, the first blockbuster since the reopening.
“There's also been a lot of excitement and hype for our anime shows especially Digimon Adventure and My Hero Academia, which are both screening exclusively at GSC,” says Koh. “We anticipate Peninsula to jumpstart the recovery of moviegoing and look forward to other Hollywood titles like Mulan and Christopher Nolan's Tenet in August to do the same.”
