The New Samsung Galaxy Note20, Galaxy Z Fold2 & More
Korean tech giant Samsung unveiled a new suite of devices to its ecosystem today, from 5G-enabled smartphones to wearable techs such as the Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Buds Live
As the world adapts to the effects of the Covid-19—from adopting contactless payments to working from home—consumer needs are also rapidly changing, and we are now more reliant than ever on technology to bridge the social distance between people.
“Never before have we relied on technology like we are today. It’s how we are staying connected as we navigate the extraordinary challenges faced around the world," said Dr TM Roh, president and head of mobile communications business, Samsung Electronics, at the Galaxy Unpacked virtual event, streamed live from South Korea on Aug 5.
The event introduced an exciting suite of five new powerful devices—Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 Ultra; Tab S7 and S7+; Galaxy Watch3; Galaxy Buds Live; and Galaxy Z Fold2—designed in response these challenges and to boost connectivity and productivity between devices as well as people.
“Technology must make life easier, not more complex. That’s why we have introduced five new power devices. Alone, these devices are powerful tools to help you maximise work and play. Together, as part of the Galaxy ecosystem, they work together seamlessly so you can spend your time focused on what matters most.”
Excited to find out about the new and improved features and products? Here’s the lowdown:
Galaxy Note20 series
Described as the most powerful Note series yet, Samsung is introducing the 6.7” Galaxy Note20 and 6.9” Galaxy Note20 Ultra, designed for efficiency and productivity in both work and play.
The new series boasts an enhanced S pen—a favourite amongst Note loyalists—for more lifelike precision, as well as new Anywhere actions that allow for touch-less navigation of the phone. Couple that with an improved Samsung Notes App experience, and you’ve got a work machine in your palm. The new experience offers more flexibility in jotting notes, recording audio, organising files as well as saving and syncing to Microsoft OneNote and Outlook.
Connecting seamlessly with other devices, the Galaxy Note20 series can also integrate with your Windows 10 PC to allow messaging, calling, managing notifications and syncing photos, and—later this year—running multiple apps on your computer.
As for play, gamers will be thrilled that they will be able to play over 100 Xbox games on their phones while on the go, accessing them from the cloud with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Games are further enhanced with the Galaxy Note20 series’ AI game booster and Bluetooth audio response optimisation. Additionally, Galaxy Note20 Ultra offers a vivid 6.9 Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 120Hz refresh rate, as well as 240Hz touch latency for the ultimate mobile gaming experience.
Aspiring vloggers and filmmakers will enjoy the Galaxy Note20 series’ 8K camera, offering 21:9 aspect ratio and 24fps recording for cinematic filmmaking. Filming is made easier with Pro Video mode, giving you control over the focus, exposure, zoom speed, frame rate, and audio of the video. This allows you to select between audio sources and adjust gains in real-time for clarity of sound.
The two phones will also come with 5G network capability—with the option of a non-5G model for Galaxy Note20.
The Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 5G come in mystic bronze, mystic green and mystic grey, while Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G is available in mystic bronze, mystic black and mystic white.
Galaxy Z Fold2
On the heels of the Galaxy Z Flip and its flagship Galaxy Fold—the world’s first in-foldable smartphone—Samsung is introducing further innovation and improved foldable user experiences with the Galaxy Z Fold2. Combining the portability and flexibility of a smartphone with the power and screen size of a tablet, the Galaxy Z Fold2 features two nearly bezel-less Infinity-O displays—a 7.6” main screen and 6.2” cover screen—which are larger than the original Galaxy Fold.
The new foldable smartphone comes in mystic black and mystic bronze, with a limited edition Galaxy Z Fold2 Thom Browne Edition in partnership with the New York fashion house.
Galaxy Tab S7 series
A PC, tablet and smartphone in one, the Galaxy Tab S7 series boasts remarkable power, flexibility and connectivity to maximise your productivity and elevate your entertainment. Like the Galaxy Note20 series, both Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ boasts an improved S Pen, as well as an improved keyboard experience using the Book Cover Keyboard. Sync your notes effortlessly across devices with Samsung Notes, or connect it to your Samsung PC15 as a second screen.
In your downtime, enjoy cloud-based gaming or high-definition video streaming on the tablets, which boast a 120 Hz refresh rate, and an 11” LTPS TFT LCD and 12.4” Super AMOLED display respectively.
The Galaxy Tab S7 comes in a Wi-Fi-only and LTE-enable model, while the Galaxy Tab S7+ comes in a Wi-Fi-only and 5G-enabled model.

You can also use the watch as a smart assistant to set alarms, plan your schedules, make contactless payments, and find your way on the GPS. Features can be accessed via the watch’s popular rotating bezel, which has been slimmed down for comfort and aesthetics.
