Shangri-La KL Wins The Sought-After Platinum Award For The Third Time

Shangri-La KL proves yet again that they are the leaders when it comes to hospitality and maintaining high standards in Kuala Lumpur’s booming luxury hotel industry.

Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur has won the coveted Platinum Award under the 5-Star Hotel Category at the Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards 2017 held at Shangri-La KL on May 23, 2017.

The Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards is a tri-annual awards programme currently in its third edition, with the first held in 2011 and the second held in 2014. The objective of the awards programme is to identify, recognise and reward establishments and individuals who have strived to promote Kuala Lumpur as a tourist destination.

Shangri-La KL is the proud reigning winner, having bagged the prestigious award for the 5-Star Hotel Category for the third consecutive time, since its inception. The awards acts as a benchmark for the highest industry standards of excellence for products and services that the luxury hotel has been putting into practice consistently.

The guests of honour who attended the awards ceremony included the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Federal Territories, Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Datuk Seri Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz and Chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards 2017 Tan Sri Dr Ong Hong Peng.

Winning this prestigious award is a great honour as it recognises that the hotel has achieved the highest level of excellence and has stood out in delivering unique services and outstanding hospitality to its guests.

The judging criteria for the 5-Star Accommodation Category was based 95% on the judges and 5% on an online poll voting by the public.
