The Tabung Jalinan Budi Children’s Fund by Tesco shows big ambitions to support underprivileged children by organising a charity gala dinner on November 6 to raise RM500,000.

Realising the importance of giving children – especially those from the lower income bracket – better lives so they can become productive members of society; Tesco is continuing its effort to help underprivileged children in Malaysia and other countries by organising  the inaugural Sinaran Jalinan Budi Charity Gala Night.

The dinner, to be held on November 5 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, aims to raise RM500,000 for Tabung Jalinan Budi Chidren’s Fund. The fund – a joint effort by Tesco, University of Malaya, The Caring Foundation and The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia – was launched in June this year by the honourable Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.

The gala dinner will be graced by former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad and wife, Tun Siti Hasmah. Performances for the night are courtesy of Malaysian jazz singer Sean Ghazi and songstress Ida Mariana, in the company of talented children singers Crystal Lee and Trisyia Azman.

“To-date, we have helped more than 1,700 children at over 56 charity homes in the vicinity of our head office, distribution centres and stores around the country. We are delighted to host Tesco’s Tabung Jalinan Budi Children’s Fund Charity Gala Dinner to help more underprivileged children gain better lives,” says Paul Ritchie, the CEO of Tesco Malaysia.
