The 82-foot acrylic pool, part of luxury property development Embassy Gardens, is suspended nearly 115 feet above London’s rapidly gentrifying Nine Elms neighbourhood

The world’s first-ever sky pool has this week opened its waters to architecture and swim enthusiasts across London. The impressive aquatic structure, known as Sky Pool, is suspended about 115 feet in the air, offering a wildly daring and architecturally striking alternative to the typical city swimming pool.

Located between the two apartment towers at Embassy Gardens, the floating acrylic Sky Pool comes as a unique alternative to the traditional rooftop pool. The aquatic offering is not for the faint of heart though—it runs about 82 feet in length with nearly 46 feet completely suspended in mid-air.

According to a recent Robb Report story, the stunning project comes as a collaboration between architect firm Arup, engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, and acrylic fabricator Reynolds Polymer Technologies. Arup’s lengthy resume includes well-known projects around the globe, including the Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore and the TWA Flight Center in New York.

Being that the aquatic project is connected to two prestigious apartment towers in the city, the avant-garde pool structure is not currently opened to the public. Those interested in taking a dip will need a membership. In fact, all residents of the building will be enrolled in the Embassy Gardens’ wellness programme, which includes access to the water feature, a cutting edge gym, movie theatre, spa and lounge, rooftop terrace, and indoor pool.

Interested in finding out more about the condo project or wellness membership? More information about the wellness membership, including pricing, is available on the official Embassy Gardens’ website. For those interested in buying a unit in the prestigious tower project, prices start at about US$1.4 million (RM5.8 million).
