Shawna Yap and Le Corbusier Grand Confort by Cassina

From the iconic to the contemporary armchairs, these It girls share some of the things they look for when they shop for their thrones

Who can resist the inviting embrace of a comfortable armchair? It's a must-have piece of furniture that can fit into your drawing room, study, bedroom or walk-in closet. An armchair can either blend in or stand out in your favourite space; and above all, it speaks volume of your personality.

We ask three fashionable society girls to share what they look for when shopping for an armchair.

Shawna Yap: Le Corbusier Grand Confort by Cassina

Grand Confort is the armchair for me. It was designed in 1928 by the famous architect Le Corbusier and was referred as a “cushion basket” by the man himself. The armchair sports a simple and timeless design. The original pieces are even stamped with Le Corbusier’s signature, which is très chic!

Lim Ai Chiin: Kubrick Wing Back Armchair by Made

I particularly like high back wing armchairs, as well as egg chairs. They always give me the illusion that I am in my own private space when I curl up on them with a blanket and a book in my hand. Depending on the part of the house, neutral or happy colours are usually my pick.

First, I look for comfort. It is important as most of the time I spend sitting on an armchair would be to read, watch TV or go on my computer for a couple of hours. The perfect armchair would also be big enough for me to curl up in and soft enough to sleep in.
