1. Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2020

Back for its 24th edition, this annual event, which started on Aug 19, goes online this year but still showcases many fascinating works such as the "Her Perspective" collection by women photographers and "The Lockdown Series" that features images taken during the MCO. There is also a slew of seminars to deepen your insight on photography in Malaysia.

Relive Liver & Lung Productions' historical musical Malaya Relived: Merdeka, which premiered in Kuala Lumpur last year, on their YouTube channel. The original production explores freedom and forbidden love, and stars Prem Sagar and Hannah Shields, among others.

SEPTEMBER 3—6

Life Sdn Bhd has never shied away from addressing social issues through the performing arts, and this year the arts series highlights another important issue: children empowerment. Running for four days at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, the show features young talents Adry Bashir, Syed Qodeem and Badrish Bahadur.

SEPTEMBER 4—26

Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) presents a month-long lineup of outstanding local musicians in a four-part spectacle called Spectrum. From a multi-medium show titled The Boutique of Dreams to the jazz-meets-aria Les Fleurs . Les Femmes featuring Malaysian soprano Evelyn Toh, it promises to be a musical feast like no other.

6. Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 e-Gala

SEPTEMBER 5

Inevitably stripped down but no less grand, the Miss Universe Malaysia pageant is happening virtually this year in light of the pandemic. Live stream the competition to find out which of the 18 finalists will win the coveted title. Twenty per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association Kuala Lumpur & Selangor.

8. Southeast Asia Watercolor Exhibition @ National Art Gallery, Langkawi

SEPTEMBER 16 UNTIL NOVEMBER 30

If you're in Langkawi during this period, pen in your list of things to do this exhibition at the National Art Gallery on the island. It features 118 gorgeous artworks from artists across region, including Direk Kingnok (Thailand), Galuh Taji Malela (Indonesia), Myint Naing (Myanmar) and Azman Nor (Malaysia).
