The partnership called Project Geländewagen will give birth to a unique artwork

Few names are as synonymous with contemporary fashion as Virgil Abloh, the founder of Off-White and men's artistic director of Louis Vuitton. Now Abloh has gone and partnered with Mercedes-Benz's chief design officer Gorden Wagener to produce an artwork that will push the boundaries of fashion, art and automobile.

Abloh describes the partnership as "modern artists' ideas of what the future can be stylistically, within a conceptual car design". Indeed, Project Geländewagen will centre around the Mercedes-Benz G-Class which turned 40 last year.

Fans of both worlds can look forward to its virtual release on Sept 8. Following the launch, a one-of-a-kind replica of the artwork will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to a charity that supports the arts.
