1. OlaBola The Musical

February 8-March 11, 2018

Tickets are fast selling out for OlaBola The Musical, premiering this February and running for a whole month at the newly-renovated Istana Budaya. The show is a long-standing effort by Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, who makes her first mark as the director of the screen-to-stage adaptation of OlaBola. Tickets can be purchased here.  

2. Jurassica At Gardens Mall

Opened this month at The Gardens Mall is Jurassica, the first-of-its-kind prehistoric immersive experience edutainment centre that advocates planet and wildlife conservation in Malaysia. Kids can participate in activities here like an interactive RFID scavenger hunt alongside daily workshops by organisations like the Malaysia Nature Society, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), edutainment TV pop group Hi-5 and more.

3. Tsai Chin Chinese New Year Eve

For the first time in Malaysia, The St. Petersburg Masterskaya Theatre will be performing German director and playwright Ulrich Hub’s famous comedy ‘At the Ark at Eight’ at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac). The light-hearted tale features the tense situation for 3 penguins in Antarctica deciding which two of them will make it into Noah’s Ark before the Great Flood hits the whole earth. The Godfather of Malaysian stand-up comedy is set to leave audiences in stitches this February and March with his #KitaOK Live Comedy Tour, presented by Celcom. Kicking off at Kuala Lumpur’s Axiata Arena on February 24, the tour continues to Johor Bahru (March 1), Melaka (March 9), Penang (March 10), Kuching (March 14), Kota Kinabalu (March 15) and lastly Labuan (March 16). 7. Soul Killers Don’t Quit

Internationally-renowned artists Andy Wauman and James Ly’s first-time collaboration has resulted in a month-long exhibition to be held at Damansara Utama’s Minut Init Art Social gallery this February 24. From 3pm to 10pm, visitors will have a unique chance to see vividly meaningful works of art by both artists, including feature murals, paper prints, and amazing videography as Andy and James shine their artistic spotlight on extinct languages and indigenous practices. This hilarious and unabashed theatre performance looks at the world of drag through the eyes of 3 men with highly interesting double lives. Penang-based Illustrator and pop artist Tiffany Choong explores the Peranakan culture and identity with her first ever solo exhibition, Treasures of a Straits Chinese, happening now till April at G Hotel Gurney in Penang. The exhibition features Tiffany’s hand-sketched Nyonya motifs she encountered in her childhood, inviting guests to reinterpret these visual symbols with a modern lens. Find out more here.
