Greece – the birthplace of colourful mythology, home to beautiful beaches and even more breathtaking islands and the source of some of the most delectable Mediterranean food – has a charm that entices people from all walks of life.

You’ll see families trying out the many artisanal restaurants in Athens just as often as you’ll see couples honeymooning in Santorini.

Recently, we spotted Zaireen Ibrahim and some of her best girlfriends – Marion Caunter, Ung Yiu Lin and Deborah Henry – vacationing in the sun-kissed terrains of Athens and Mykonos and couldn’t help but follow along their #mybigfabgreekvacay adventure.

"We were in Greece at the end of May for a girls’ trip. We were 3 mummies and 1 bride to be, who have always wanted to go away together. After talking about it for many, many years, #mybigfabgreekvacay finally materialised. We couldn’t believe we actually made it as it was the first time for us travelling without our kids or husbands."

"We were in Athens for 2 nights to explore the city as it was the first time for some of us and then we flew to Mykonos for 4 nights for some sun, sea, fun and relaxation."

"In Athens, we stayed at King George by the Syntagma Square as not only is it very convenient, it’s also within walking distance to just about everything. We did a lot of walking and exploring."

"We explored the Acropolis, the ruins of the Greek temples and visited the museum for a little bit of history. We also drove out to the spectacular Cape Sounio to admire the incredible view of the Aegean Sea."

"Back in the city, we spent one afternoon wandering the streets of Psirri. It is such a fun place to discover hole-in-the-wall cafes, speakeasy bars and restaurants."

"In Mykonos, we opted for Cavo Tagoo, where the view is the best in Mykonos and perfect for relaxation. It’s also very strategically located, just a few minutes away from the Mykonos town. Our days are more relaxed here, spent lazing by the pool, going on a boat trip around the island or just shopping in  town."

"I definitely enjoyed the boat trip around Mykonos the most. The weather was great that day for exploring so we stopped over at Delos, swam in Reina, explored the traditional Greek villages in Paros and did a stopover for the most scenic lunch at Spilia. It was a perfect day."

"Food was also definitely a highlight. From lunch at Varoulko seaside to Funky Gourmet in Athens, the food didn’t disappoint. In Mykonos, lunch at Kiki’s on Agios Sostis is a must. It was worth the 1-hour wait as not only is the view amazing, the food is simply delicious, one of my personal favourite meal in Mykonos."

"I loved the lobster pasta at Spilia."

"Greece has such a fun night life, be it in Athens or Mykonos. In Athens, we checked out Bar Au Ruum and Drunk Sinatra and loved the vibe there. In Mykonos, a few of our favorite places are Interni, Scorpios, Caprice and Jackie O."

"Greece has beauty in every corner and every corner is picture perfect. It’s hard to capture a bad picture in Greece. It’s such scenic and beautiful country to visit. I hope to go back one day and explore Santorini and the other islands."
