See what 2024 has in store for you with our yearly horoscope by our astrologer Casey Chan
As we step into a new year, we naturally look forward to new beginnings. Whether it’s declaring our new year’s resolution or crafting a personal vision board, hopeful anticipation is in the air. This year, consider joining forces with the cosmos and let the stars guide you into a more aligned planning for the year ahead.
While 2024 is bursting with energy of fresh start and new beginning, certain months will bring more intensity, while others feel mellow. The year kicks off with a boost in mental clarity as Mercury stations direct on January 2. Although the Mercury retrograde effects will linger until January 21, we can expect clearer communications and mental processes. One of the most important cosmic events in 2024 is Pluto’s movement between Capricorn and Aquarius. Pluto is considered the Lord of the Underworld, wherever she travels to, we can expect intense changes. Being considered a malefic planet, Pluto is the fire of transformation that can sometimes seem destructive. On January 20, having Pluto join the Sun just moments before she shifts sign into humanitarian Aquarius further amplifies her influence. The powerful planet then retrogrades back into Capricorn in September before officially entering Aquarius on November 20, where she will stay until 2044. Over the next two decades, powerful changes could occur in the world, such as ground-breaking technology discoveries, radical societal changes, more intensive activism and social justice movements. As societal structures are challenged, it is likely that the world appears to be more divided before we become more united.

The energy becomes more wobbly in April as the Eclipse and Mercury retrograde season coincide. On March 25, the Lunar Eclipse in Libra marks the beginning of Eclipse season, where things become less predictable. Think back to the New Moon on October 15 2023: what are some themes that emerged money and relationships? These issues may resurface during the Eclipse. The Eclipse season closes with the Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8, where the energy re-focuses on ourselves. Just two days later, Mars and Saturn conjoining may cause us to feel particularly heavy, as though we are stuck with certain responsibilities. On April 20, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction suggests a turn of events, perhaps in the areas of wealth and abundance. Jupiter is the planet of unlimited blessings, while for better or for worse, Uranus’ appearance always indicates an element of surprise. Throughout April, we will also be feeling the effects of Mercury retrograde in fiery Aries. It would be helpful to plan less for this month and leave more room for flexibility instead.
After an intense roller coaster ride, May lifts us up again with a few Jupiter blessings. On May 18, Jupiter meets the Sun in a “cazimi” that is known to be the luckiest day of the year. On this day, we can expect our relationships, finances and careers to be positively impacted. When Jupiter meets Venus on May 23, we become extra lovey-dovey and harmonious. Having this knowledge in mind, it is time to plan your most important events and meet-ups for this luck-filled week.
During summer, the energy becomes quiet. Throughout August, we are met with the second round of Mercury retrograde in the sign of Virgo and Leo. On August 19, Jupiter in Gemini squares Saturn in Pisces suggests some inner tension, where we feel both limited and unsure about the future ahead. We then step into the second Eclipse season in September and October. With the South Node (representing our Karma) activated, it is likely that something from the past creeps back into our lives. We could also experience more intensity closer to October, when the universe asks us to bravely face our subconscious beliefs and patterns. Apart from Mercury going retrograde in December, Mars will also move backward from December 7 until February 2025. Paired with another rough interaction between Jupiter and Saturn on December 24, we can expect some frustrations through the holidays, where the universe wants us to sit still and reflect, instead of moving forward.
