Challenge accepted

Those who crave growth will know that we grow the most from facing and overcoming challenges—which may be hard, emotionally and physically taxing, and test every limit we have... but no one ever did grow from within their comfort zone. This is something our August cover stars know very well. This month we talk to Hongkongers with Down syndrome and their families, as well as Victoria Tang-Owen, president of the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association and Tatler’s Asia’s Most Influential honouree, about how those with the condition navigate prejudice, lack of adequate support and an uncertain future.

Others featured in our stories this week have also faced their challenges and flourished. From Karpe, the Norwegian duo who took on creating an east-meets-west style of music whose fans love them for their honest approach to rapping about issues that matter, like being immigrant kids, to Beyond The Billion’s Sarah Chen-Spellings who explains why female-led businesses are worth the investment despite the barriers that hold female founders back.

Other newsletter highlights this week:

Here is my challenge to you this weekend, Tatler readers: be kind to yourself. For now, have a happy Friday!
