Smashing start

She may be no stranger to Asia, having spent a lot of time in mainland China, but until December, Emma Raducanu had never been to Hong Kong. While visiting the city for the first time, the 2021 US Open Champion opened up to Tatler about her time off court, and knowing when to take a break.

Raducanu is an inspiration for young tennis players: not only for her achievements, but also for being a well-rounded human with as much of a life outside of tennis as possible. As the cover star of our January issue, she reminds us of the importance of a balanced lifestyle. And there are many ways by which you could attain that in 2024—by making more time to read impactful books, by setting personal boundaries and learning how to say “no” like Olympic swimmer Siobhán Haughey, and by supporting local businesses that champion social change.
