Khailee Ng

Khailee Ng is the managing partner for 500 Global, the legendary Silicon Valley-based early-stage venture fund that has set up more than a dozen funds in emerging markets. Ng founded the fund’s regional division, 500 Southeast Asia, and oversaw a multimillion dollar micro-fund to invest in the next generation of Southeast Asia’s most promising startups that included Grab, Carousell, and Carsome.

With a keen nose for identifying some of the most promising startups around, Ng, through 500 Southeast Asia, has seeded a total of 16 unicorns (companies with a valuation over US$1 billion). 500 Global’s portfolio of companies has collectively raised over US$10 billion.

Prior to 500 Global, Ng founded social commerce site Groupsmore (which was acquired by Groupon) and Says.com, Malaysia’s largest online media company (now owned by Media Prima). He attributes some of his investment success to his improved lifestyle that includes a plant-based diet and getting plenty of exercises.

An entrepreneur at heart, Ng loves building things and the investing he does at 500 Global gives him the same thrill of creation. His industry opinions are often featured on news organisations such as Bloomberg, Fortune, TechCrunch and Wall Street Journal.
