Syed Haizam Jamalullail

Managing Director, Tuas Capital Partners

Not only does Syed Haizam Jamalullail make astute investments for a living, he also invests in the youth of the nation

In 2011, Syed Haizam Jamalullail founded Tuas Capital Partners, a private equity investment group that specialises in managing and raising capital for entrepreneurs across the region. Over the last five years, his firm has invested in six new tech companies specialising in fintech and traveltech in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The firm has also teamed up with Calilfornia-based venture studio The Hive and local conglomerate the Sunway Group to manage The Hive Southeast Asia Fund I to provide startup launch pads. In December 2020, Tuas succeeded in being selected as a venture capital fund manager for Penjana Kapital under the Dana Penjana Nasional aimed at accelerating Malaysia’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

Before this, he spent three years cutting his teeth as governance and sustainable investment analys at F&C Investments of London. He was also instrumental in bringing in the specialty American ice cream chain Cold Stone Creamery into Malaysia.

But perhaps his most significant investment to date, outside of the business sphere, is being a board of trustee member of Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor, which is involved with the Selangor Youth Community and focuses on the plight of marginalised youth.
