Thai food aficionados looking for a flavour-rich dining experience will find the cosy opulence of Erawan a welcome destination to do so.

SETTING

Erawan, a fine and contemporary Thai experience, is tailored for food aficionados looking for a flavourful dining experience. Nestled within the latest culinary hot spot in Damansara City Mall, Erawan takes a slightly different concept from its previous location with a fresh look that exudes a sleek and elegant modern feel. The walls feature beautiful Thai-inspired art complimented with warm, yellow lights cascading down on tables that are beautifully set with stone-textured plates and thematic utensils and glassware. The cosy opulence that radiates through the outlet makes this Thai haven the perfect pick for intimate dates and special occasion family dinners.

FOOD

Award-winning Chef Korn Yodsuk’s well-honed skills come through in each dish and his attention to detail is apparent when you experience the taste of married flavours and contrasting textures that tease the taste buds. Erawan’s appetiser menu offers a wide range of choices, from prawn donuts and grilled pineapple to rose apples and pegaga salads, but do try the cheese and spinach spring rolls. It’s a popular pick among patrons and a great choice if your mains pack quite a bit of heat as the delicate blend of fresh mozzarella cheese and spinach is deep-fried and served with Erawan’s special plum jam.

Keep things interesting with the roasted duck curry. Its soft, succulent meat is soaked in an aromatic curry that leaves a silky texture on the palate. Carnivores will sing praises for the Wagyu beef, which is particularly notable for its tender texture that is tossed with a medley of capsicums and then slathered with a black pepper sauce. One of the best things about Erawan is that you can pick your level of spiciness, a definite plus point for those who enjoy that extra kick and those who can’t stand the heat.

Options are aplenty in the dessert menu – candied cassava, durian platters, banana spring rolls and house artisanal ice creams, to name a few. However, there’s no second-guessing the must-have of every Thai restaurant – mango sticky rice. Erawan’s version isn’t just delicious but visually alluring too, making it a beautiful table centrepiece.

DRINKS

Erawan offers a nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle. If you’re feeling stumped, the waiters are happy to recommend a suggestion that pairs well with your dishes. The house pouring white is perfect with a spicy meal as it is soft, fruity and medium bodied with hints of vanilla, butter and oak. For a non-alcoholic choice, the menu offers Thai teas and coffees that pair beautifully with their dessert selection.

SERVICE

From start to end, you can trust that Erawan takes pride in their service. The waiters know the menu items well, offers good suggestions and could tailor to your taste preferences, a major plus point in the service industry since good service always compliments good food.

PRICE

While paying a slightly steep price of RM450 for an appetiser, three main dishes, a dessert and two glasses of wine, it seems fitting as the meal is more than just food; it’s a union of an experience and gastronomical talent.
