Signature by The Hill

International   |   $ $ $ $   |   Petaling Jaya

With delectable fusion cuisine and sprawling windows that offer stunning views of the Petaling Jaya skyline, Signature the perfect place for a romantic night out.

With an all-around sky view of Petaling Jaya through sprawling windows and dimmed lighting bolstering intimate tables for two, romantic evenings are the objective of every visit although the atmosphere changes vastly during the day to be family and child-friendly, which is perfect for the new brunch menu it now also serves.

Views and convenient location aside, look forward to value-for-money food here, where portions are generous and variety is satisfactory enough without getting overwhelming.  A straightforward Western menu makes deciding on what to order a pleasantly uncomplicated experience.

The ocean trout comes in a respectfully thick steak. Only lightly salted and with the white sauce served on the side, it retains a good spring in the bite with a delightfully crispy skin. The crunchy bed of sautéed vegetables at the bottom mixes up textures so you don’t get bored.

The Black Angus rib-eye is worth an order too particularly for those looking to bank in on protein. The eyes feast first on the beautiful criss-cross char across the surface before the palate indulges on the juicy tenderness that is the perfect balance of smokey, meaty and gamey.

The lamb tikka will excite meat-lovers looking for a change from the usual. The juicy cutlets come with a fragrant tikka rub so you get a kick of spice to cut through the game of the lamb. Completing the Indian influence are crispy papadams atop a bed of sautéed vegetables.

The Roof’s intention of being a night spot spills over to the restaurant, with more attention being focused on selling liquor and wine by the bottle and by the most popular label instead of quality and diversity. House pour wine offers only one each of red and white wines and the rest of the wine list appears pretty limited. It’s cocktail list is more worth your time as they lean more towards theatrics.

Staff are ample with their smiles and are quick dash to consult with more experienced supervisors on matters they are not familiar with.

RM150/Per person

Value for money is the keyword for returning given the portions but there’s also the saying “you get what you pay for”. Also, ordering drinks by the bottle will help in lowering the final figure on the bill.
