The Drawing Room

Coffeehouse   |   $ $ $ $   |   Kuala Lumpur Sentral

Savour scrumptious and delightful high tea offerings amidst refined splendour and a monumental one-of-a-kind horse sculpture.

SETTING

The Drawing Room is easily recognisable, thanks to Fernando Botero’s Fat Horse sculpture – but if you’re ever lost and wandering around, ask any one of their friendly staff and they will either point you in the right direction, or escort you right to it. The luxurious setting begs you to take your time and soak in the entire experience. Its floor-to-ceiling glass wall allows for ample natural light and a rather pleasant view, considering the establishment being on the ground floor. The Drawing Room is ideal for dates, family get-togethers and more, with bookings easily made over the phone.

FOOD

The Afternoon Tea set starts off with a round of savoury canapés, boasting of four varieties: sweet wine and port terrine foie gras on toasted brioche; king crab, avocado and sakura mix; Scottish smoked salmon and chives crème fraiche on rye; and egg mayonnaise, black truffle. These are replenishable as there is staff regularly making the rounds with a tray loaded with the delicacies.

Next, there’s a three-tier tray comprising scones and other pastries. The cranberry and plain scones (at the bottom tier) is delectable in terms of texture and flavour, which are further enhanced with rhubarb jam and English cream. Then, the middle tier sees offerings of double chocolate cookie shooters, a choc-lover’s delight with its luscious liquid chocolate encased within a chocolate chip cookie. Topping the tray are more decadent dessert offerings such as macarons, a lemon tart, green tea cupcake and a chocolate mint sensation.

DRINKS

There are six choices of tea on offer: grand wedding, jasmine queen, Napoleon, sencha, festive night and French earl grey, with all options being refillable. Notable picks are the festive night, a refreshingly light fruit scented tea, and the Japanese sencha tea for its rather refreshing and healthy balance to the decadent desserts offered. If you’re in the mood for some bubbly, Veuve Clicquot champagne is available too.

SERVICE

The wait staff were very warm, friendly and welcoming. They’re well-dressed and pleasant, ever ready to ensure you have a wonderful tea session. If you’re unsure of which tea option to go for, simply ask for more details or let them know what flavours you would appreciate, and they would gladly recommend the right tea for you. They also give you detailed explanations on the canapes as well as desserts being served. Bookings can be made easily over the phone and is a rather quick and easy task.

PRICE

The price for the Afternoon Tea set is RM140 nett, per set. There is, however, the option to have a glass of champagne together with your tea – priced at RM220 nett. Also, there are numerous other drink and food offerings on the menu, which you can purchase separately should you want to.
