The Museum specialises in authentic and unabashedly non-halal Chinese food, which is served in record time

Founder Mr Lee named his restaurant The Museum in keeping with his hobby of collecting antiques, which also explains the old-timey set-up of the space. For a shopping mall restaurant, it’s quite the standout; stepping inside feels like exiting a time machine and entering the Victorian era. The Museum specialises in authentic and unabashedly non-halal Chinese food, which is served in record time in spite of heavy lunch hour traffic. Exuding a quiet competence that’s highly reassuring, the servers know the menu inside out and do a good job of recommending the appropriate portion sizes, even without being promoted. As mentioned prior, non-halal dishes assume centre stage at The Museum, especially the Towing Char Siew and the Crispy Crackling Pork—one is the yin to the other’s yang. These are dishes fit for an emperor, but simple enough to be appreciated by the everyday bloke.

IN THE KNOW

While The Museum’s Kari Mee (Curry Noodles) are good enough on their own, make your meal truly memorable by topping the lot with the restaurant’s famous char siew.
