Something borrowed, something new

Prince Harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle made their first official shortly after announcing their engagement on November 27. The pair strolled out for photos at Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden and gave the world a first glimpse of her dazzling, yellow gold engagement ring made by Cleave and Company, official jewellers to Queen Elizabeth.

The prince had thoughtfully designed the ring, incorporating a central diamond from Botswana, and two stones from his mother Princess Diana’s collection. Not only does the middle stone represent a significant place in their relationship, the two other gems is a tribute to the memory of his mother.

“She didn’t let me finish. She said: ‘Can I say yes? Can I say yes? Then there were hugs and I had the ring in my finger and I said, ‘Can I give you the ring?’” Prince Harry revealed in an interview, of their proposal that took place this month, whilst the couple were preparing dinner at home.

The Royal Wedding is announced for spring 2018

At long last, Prince Harry and his American sweetheart, Meghan Markle are set to tie the knot, Clarence House confirmed in an official statement today. A tentative timeframe has been set for spring 2018, with the exact date to be announced in due course.

The couple’s transatlantic relationship has generated increasingly sensational scrutiny from observers of the British Royals and fans worldwide. Although the prince and the Suits actress have been spotted together on several occasions, it was their public appearance as a couple at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September that fuelled speculations of an impending royal wedding.

A shared passion for charity

It’s been 18 months since Prince Harry and Meghan began dating, and despite their differences – Harry, the young 'party prince', and Meghan, a half-black, American divorcee – defied conventions and found kindred souls in one another. Both icons share a passion for humanitarian work; Meghan, as an activist and feminist, and Harry, for his charity work and mental health campaigns.

Meghan is said to be integrating well into the royal fold, having reportedly met Queen Elizabeth for tea at Buckingham Palace last month to seek her blessings.

The couple will reside in Nottingham Cottage, Kensington Palace, where the prince calls home.

Till then, it looks like we’re all set for another royal wedding of the year in 2018!
