Something borrowed, something new
Prince Harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle made their first official shortly after announcing their engagement on November 27. The pair strolled out for photos at Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden and gave the world a first glimpse of her dazzling, yellow gold engagement ring made by Cleave and Company, official jewellers to Queen Elizabeth.
The prince had thoughtfully designed the ring, incorporating a central diamond from Botswana, and two stones from his mother Princess Diana’s collection. Not only does the middle stone represent a significant place in their relationship, the two other gems is a tribute to the memory of his mother.
“She didn’t let me finish. She said: ‘Can I say yes? Can I say yes? Then there were hugs and I had the ring in my finger and I said, ‘Can I give you the ring?’” Prince Harry revealed in an interview, of their proposal that took place this month, whilst the couple were preparing dinner at home.
