Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin, the group executive chairman of NAZA World Group of Companies, has been awarded the title of ‘Grande Ufficiale’ by the President of Italy.

The title – known as the ‘Grande Ufficiale dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia (OSI)’ in full – is the second highest award of OSI (second class of five), a title rarely conferred on foreign citizens and is also the highest granted to those who receive an Italian award for the first time.

Italian ambassador to Malaysia, HE Mario Sammartino presented the award to Datuk Wira SM Faisal during the Italian National Day celebration dinner held recently at JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The award, granted by the President of the Republic at the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in consultation with the Bar Council, recognises individuals who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of friendly relations with Italy.

Datuk Wira SM Faisal actively fosters that good relation through NAZA World Group of Companies by bringing in not only high end luxury Italian branded vehicles but also introduced lifestyle elements associated with Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, Aprilia and Vespa. He also spearheads the sartorial brand Spezzato in Malaysia.

“I’d like to thank His Excellency Mario Sammartino and the Italian Government for honouring me with this award,” said Datuk Wira SM Faisal. “This accolade is dedicated to my late father Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, the management and staff of NAZA. It is a collective effort and a testament to the quality of our products and services.”

More Malaysians making our country proud on the world stage: Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh who was recently conferred the 'Officier des Arts et des Lettres' award by the French government.
