Tatlergrams Of The Week: Epic Year-End Vacations
January 2, 2018 | BY Jessica Liew
If you’re back at work and nursing some holiday blues, take a break with these snapshots of high society year-end travels to inspire your next travel destination of 2018.
You can always rely on the who’s who of society for a dose of wanderlust all year round, but more so during the New Year holidays. Some vacations are perpetually from Christmas to the New Year: Like Dato’ Seri Farah Khan gallivanting from Havana to Texas, and Juvene Goh and Marcus Teo ticking off sunny Victoria for the snowy peaks of Hokkaido.
The winter season meant ski-slope selfies were aplenty: Ken Lim and Hubert Whoi, Morvin Tan and Tunku Myra Madihah took advantage of the pristine powdery slopes. Warmer climes beckoned to Jenn Low, Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Chai for a sunny countdown. All in all, these ‘grams look just about the right way to ring in 2018!
Dato’ Seri Farah Khan
You have to agree with us, that Dato’ Seri Farah lives a life right off the glossy pages of an editorial photoshoot. After ambling through Havana, she landed in Houston, Texas, to this Farah Khan Couture-themed party.
Ken Lim and Hubert Hoi
When they weren’t dashing through the snow, these hunks were causing serious winter envy with their wefies and Japanese #foodporn.
Juvene and husband Marcus may be unrecognisable and bundled up for the slopes, but we can tell by their body language that they’re having a rad time under the majestic peaks of Mount Fuji.
After a fulfilling year as the city's beacon of health via her vegetarian café and a series of jetsetting work brought upon her (meeting K-Pop stars!), Levy headed for the peaceful vibes of Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji for a reflective sojourn to end 2017.
Nadia and husband Hamzah Alang Azman capped off 2017 with one of several travels – this Disneyland trip with the children was cute but more precious above all, as they counted down to daughter Tahlia’s 1st birthday the next day.
From Seoul to Hong Kong, Bryan and his adorable little family ticked off the best of both worlds from winter wonderland to the warmer shores of Hong Kong, ringing in the festivities in a big way.
The city of love may be all kinds of pretty, but newlyweds Fazura and Fattah Amin spent a sizable amount of time gazing deeply into each other’s eyes.
Globetrotting luminary Chryseis chose London as her countdown city, and toasted to a New Year in her first city abroad of 2018 with a cuppa steaming coffee.
Michelle and her twin Rachel discovered the sunshine, sea breeze and sultry beauty of the exotic Hawaii, and paired each view with flawless #OOTDs.
Marissa took a trip through the culturally rich hub of Cape Town, South Africa, for an enlightening retreat surrounded by wildlife and street art.
Datuk Kelvin Tan
New York was the fitting venue of choice for Datuk Kelvin’s cap-off to 2017, soaking in a cosmopolitan-scale of Christmas celebrations and countdowns.
Tunku Nadia Naquiyuddin
It was a customary countdown for Tunku Nadia Naquiyuddin and her family and friends at Wynn Las Vegas – dressed in their finest festive garb, huddling together for a Naquiyuddin family ‘sandwich’ wefie.
Jenn and her little family took a low-profile approach to the otherwise rowdy holiday season; heading for the tranquil, picturesque locale of New Zealand to count their 2017 blessings.
Tunku Datin Myra Madihah
The last day of 2017 was spent slicing through the snowy peaks of Gstaad for Tunku Myra and her brood, and boy, do they look on top of the world!
Scha Alyahya and Awal Ashaari
It was Europe in a whirlwind for this favourite couple, hopping from Amsterdam to Paris, standing out with their tropical warmth and sunkissed grins.
Stephanie fast forwarded 2018 in Sydney, welcoming the New Year ahead of the world with friends, family and lots of sunbathing and sightseeing.
For this expert globetrotter, Singapore was her city of choice to ring in another year, featuring an exceptionally scenic backdrop of Marina Bay Sands, no less.
A family that vacations together, stays together, as demonstrated by the Arshads. Jesrina and her #fambam enjoyed unlimited sun, swimming, and quality time in a massive villa overlooking Koh Samui’s emerald waters.
Benjamin Yong and Elizabeth Lee-Yong
We take our hats off to these doting parents and the thing or 2 they teach us about keeping romance alive – such as a mini #elopement to Beijing.
Datin Dian Lee
This family swears by a low-key trip to the seaside to get in touch with nature. Datin Dian and her clan clearly enjoy earth’s treasures – like Hong Kong’s Big Wave Bay – for a healing holiday.
Despite a host of work and family commitments between Christmas and the New Year, sport enthusiast Morvin’s pitstop to Courchevel attests to his powder addiction.
While many put on their skis and snowboards, Kelly stripped down to summer staples in favour of the coveted Beverly Hills vibe.
