Diego Della Valle, the chairman of Italian brand Tod's, and his family have donated €5mil to support families of frontliners

As one of the European nations most badly affected by Covid-19, Italy has been in a nationwide lockdown for a month. Its health workers have been working round the clock to fight against the pandemic, which has claimed more than 16,000 lives.

Many luxury fashion brands have stepped up to lend their support to these health workers, from recalibrating their factories to make hand sanitisers and PPEs to starting a fund to reinforce strained health services.

Recently, the Della Valle family behind Tod's announced that it has allocated €5mil (about RM23.6mil) that will be used to support families of health workers who have lost their lives during this fight.

The fund is named Sempre con Voi, which translates to mean "Always with you". Its administration is entrusted to Protezione Civile, a national body in Italy dealing with the prevention, prediction and management of emergency situations.
