At first sight, the handsome perfumerie, Henry Jacques in Pavilion KL, evokes a scene out of a historic Paris and with valid reason: the haute French label’s second standalone boutique in Asia was assembled in France, vacuum-packed, then reassembled in its new 650 sq-ft-home in Malaysia. The boutique is designed from solid oak in a light brown shade, boasts gilded finishing, and ceilings covered in Régence gold leaf and patina by French master painter, Louis-Daniel Jouve. Two large open windows in the front façade invite passersby a glimpse of the magical scene within, anchored by a centrally placed perfume organ concealing scents waiting to be explored.

Malaysian artisanal batik brand Fern finally debut its first flagship store in Bangsar Village II, a stone’s throw away from its old shoebox space. The spacious boutique features a Moroccan and bohemian retreat aesthetic, with weaving and tiled elements, plants galore, and curved arches that accentuate the venue’s depth and corners. A walk through the boutique presents pockets of quaint discoveries, from handmade pieces by Malaysian brands, Fern's vibrant batik prints and flowy silhouettes, and crannies to sit and lounge between shopping jaunts.
