Be it skin boosters, lasers or a non-invasive lifting treatment, taking care of your skin post-treatment is just as important. Even more so when you’re on holiday
It’s no secret that many people often book themselves in for an aesthetic treatment or two, or even more, when they travel to Seoul on holiday. But beyond doing the research on which treatments to do and aesthetic clinics to visit, many of us don’t do much more homework after, such as caring for your skin post-treatmemt.
And since not everyone is going to be packing their entire skincare arsenal for a trip, what should you look out for when you skincare shop in Seoul? Use gentle skincare products after your aesthetic treatments for up to two weeks, regardless if they’re minimally- or non-invasive, as this will minimise any risk of inflammation, shared Dr Rachel Ho of La Clinic.
When it comes to skincare, Dr Ho also advised looking for active ingredients such as ceramides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and natural moisturising factors (NMFs) that will help strengthen the skin barrier. The key is to also keep things simple with a post-treatment skincare routine that consists of a facial wash, moisturiser and sunscreen.
“If you feel your skin is dry, consider layering your moisturiser with a hydrating serum or use a sheet mask,” Dr Ho added. But that’s not all. Being on holiday also means that you would want to relax and let loose, though your doctor will advise you to skip alcohol–horrors of horrors, after your treatment.
Said Dr Ho, “With injectables like Botox and fillers, drinking alcohol increases the risk of bruising.”
So if you do want to indulge, Dr Ho shared that you can do so after 48 hours. But it is always best to check in with your doctor because any advice given is procedure-dependent. The same goes for the use of makeup. “Makeup can cause dermatitis after procedures such as lasers and chemical peels. With regard to how soon makeup can be applied after the procedure, it typically ranges from one to seven days, depending on the depth of the chemical peel and type of laser,” added Dr Ho.
