Inspired by her own pregnancies, serial entrepreneur and mother of four Nadia Nasimuddin talks about the importance of post-pregnancy care and shares her secret formula to keep those stretch marks at bay

Founded in 2020, Pop Neutral is an all-natural body care brand created with one goal in mind: to encourage a healthy lifestyle and an even healthier mindset—with self-care the number one priority.

The product range is formulated by founder Nadia Nasimuddin herself who developed her own concoctions while undergoing four challenging pregnancy journeys.

Having had firsthand knowledge of the physical changes that came with pregnancies, which include (and are not limited to) heightened skin sensitivity, dryness, itchiness, and stretch marks, the mother of four, also known as one of the directors of the Naza Group, made sure to be thorough with her research, and was careful about what she put on her skin.

With a 'less is more' approach, all of Pop Neutral's products are made with minimal ingredients and began life as home remedies. From body oils and creams to scrubs, the brand also includes an active body range for those who are constantly on-the-go.

As a vocal advocate for inclusivity and body positivity, Nadia intends for Pop Neutral to become a safe space where all women including mothers can feel represented by addressing their concerns. In this interview, we learn all about Nadia's glow-up routine as well as the trials of motherhood.

What are the biggest red flags for you when it comes to body care products?

For pregnant women, there are many essential oils you need to watch out for. As such, Pop Neutral's Stretch Mark Oil only contains five ingredients: sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, Argan Oil, avocado oil and vitamin E. We do have certain essential oils in our Intense Firming Oil—mixed in a carrier oil, of course—but these are meant to help aid firming and toning.

How long did it take you to formulate the product range then?

A good year. The belly masks and the Pop Active range were especially difficult to create because I wanted to create something as pure as possible. I wanted to use natural, organic ingredients that are safe to use and can deliver results

Is there a Pop Neutral routine you'd recommend for best results?

To avoid dry skin, it's best to moisturise immediately after a hot shower. Use the Shea Body Butter first, then apply the oils. For efficacy, I like to mix both the Stretch Mark Oil and the Intense Firming Oil on areas I think need a little more TLC. I also dry brush once a week, and use a body scrub twice a week.

How has motherhood inspired you to create Pop Neutral?

Many people know that I went through difficult pregnancies, and each was more challenging than the last. But for many women, including myself, the severity of these challenges isn't discussed enough because it's assumed to be the norm.

From severe nausea and vomiting that lasted for five to six months, to early contractions, then giving birth to premature babies and even depression, I didn't know where or who to turn to. No one really knows what mothers go through by themselves as every pregnancy is different. The pressure and anxiety that come with your body's physical changes is also very real.

For me, especially after my first pregnancy, I was so self-conscious about my body. I wasn't expecting to still have a belly that made me looked like I'm six-months pregnant. But then, after experiencing four pregnancies, I've learned to take my time, to be more kinder to myself, because our bodies need time to rest, heal and restore.

Through social media, I found many people in the same shoes, some with even worse experiences, who gave me the advice and support I needed. So, with Pop Neutral, I hope to provide that very same support to all women out there, to highlight the importance of inclusivity and build an empathetic community with the brand.
