Both new stores in The Gardens Mall as well as a brand new location in Suria KLCC come with an exclusive Roman touch, seen to by architect extraordinaire Peter Marino.

Italian jeweler Bulgari is making some serious waves in the Kuala Lumpur luxury scene with the openings of two new concept stores in Kuala Lumpur and that’s not even the most exciting part of it.

Both new stores in The Gardens Mall as well as a new location in Suria KLCC come with an exclusive Roman touch, seen to by architect extraordinaire Peter Marino. This comes after the renovation of the historical Roman flagship in 2014 as well as the launch of the new London flagship in New Bond Street early this year and will be reflected in key worldwide locations.

Each visit into either store now presents a virtual journey of sorts through the city of Rome. Here’s what to expect.

Bulgari The Gardens Mall

Mediterranean origins and Italian touch pervade the store at The Gardens Mall where 95 square metres will take you through 2700 years of Roman inspiration. This store is also the first Bulgari store outside of the city centre.

Bulgari Suria KLCC

The effect is greater at the Suria KLCC store where that inspiration shines through 143 square meters. First impression greets you with ancient black grand antique marble and travertine navona columns at the entrance, interspersed with two institutional cream and saffron coloured windows.

Inside both stores, Italian walnut square patterned parquet simulates a luminous ambience complementing the ample natural sunlight that floods the store.

To really emulate a walk through the ancient city of Rome, oval shaped counters make up the main fixtures. The counters, made of light bronze galvanized iron is inspired by the renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa and serve as an invitation to browse the shop and explore Bulgari’s most iconic collections.

Above, Murano crystal chandeliers gleam in quiet glamour, lending light and bringing attention to other features like the imperial saffron shantung silk curtains adorning the windows and endorsements of celebrity fans of Bulgari on the walls.

Further enriching the shopping experience is the VIP area where the most prized pieces can be viewed in complete privacy. Pantheon mesh grid of bronze lattice work shield prying eyes away.

On the furniture and décor front, Peter Marino himself carefully selects some while designers who have had link with the Bulgari heritage conceive others.

True to the Bulgari spirit, the new concept is all about balancing the old and new so tradition and innovation can co-exist and thrive off one another.
