Shadow and light, question and answer, elegance and extravagance, artist and muse, vulnerable and invincible, rupture and creation -- the new Chanel N°5 L’Eau is all the above and more.

The strongest and fiercest of women are made of many things at once – strength softened with kindness, tenacity coupled with patience, fearlessness curbed in by calculated caution. It is this paradox that makes her so capable, a single entity that can cover all grounds and be anything and everything at once.

Chanel is celebrating that exact power of a paradox with its new N°5 L’Eau, introduced in a video that is as eclectic as the fragrance and its new face, Lily-Rose Depp.

Our heroine is, all at once, shadow and light, question and answer, elegance and extravagance, artist and muse, vulnerable and invincible, rupture and creation. Personifying the battle within all of us, she is the perfect incarnation of the new fragrance that is equally contradictory. You know her and you don’t. You know the new N°5 L’Eau and you don’t.

True to the edgy message of the film, the video itself is shot in an intentionally “deconstructed” format, by music video genius Johan Renck. Choppy footages and punchy snapshots tell the story in an incredibly powerful and sensual manner, offering just enough to give you an idea of what goes on in the minds of the N°5 woman without fully giving everything away.

It is a statement of how in each Chanel woman, there is a young girl waiting to find fulfillment, and in every young girl, a woman waiting to take over the world.
