Cover The finale of Chanel SS 2021 Haute Couture

Celebrating love and family in the advent of spring, these are our favourite looks from Chanel's latest haute couture collection

Creative director Virginie Viard reimagines an intimate wedding party in the South of France for Chanel's spring 2021 haute couture collection. With a mythical staircase swathed in mirrors, rustic floral arches and petal-strewn runway, the Grand Palais is transformed into a warm reunion of the Chanel family, including Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Vanessa Paradis and her daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, among the blossoming flowers of spring.

Of the 32 looks presented in the show, these are our favourite picks which embody the spirit of celebration and romance.

Vintage with a Twist

This show-stopping look brings a twist of modernity in the traditional silhouette of a wedding dress with a wing collar and shirt cuffs. Complementing the romance of the bride's ecru stain crêpe dress with its delicate line of buttons down the middle and a pattern of strass and pearl butterflies intricately embroidered by Lesage, this ensemble embodies the timeless elegance that Chanel is known for.

Liberating Looks

On creating this collection, Virginie Viard shares:

I'm always thinking about what women would like to have in their wardrobe today

These playful, asymmetrical looks from the removable lace skirt made with white daisies to the spangled black tulle on a tight bold dress not only showcases the unmatched craftsmanship of the couturiers at Chanel, but perfectly captures the effervescence of the youth today.
