The year-end spirit of merrymaking and holiday cheer greatly influences our mood and the way we carry ourselves. Colours take on a dazzlingly bold facet, psyched for the season’s parties and revelry. A good case in point is the Clé de Peau Beauté Les Années Folles autumn winter 2016 Limited Edition Holiday collection 2016.

To create this stunning collection that’s as much a feast to the eye as well as it is a beautifying kit, Clé de Peau Beauté engaged pop artist Ashley Longshore to bring the art deco era to life through illustrations of the package. The result: dainty, elegant works of art enveloping lip and eye palettes, and a makeup brush pouch.

It took a year for Ashley to design the Holiday collection. The glamorous shades of gold and silver, and striking colours for her art work is inspired by Tamara de Lempicka, the glamorous and daring artist celebrated for her bold and fearless beauty.

“I feel like with a brand like this, we’re actually doing the same thing in a different form – I’m painting on canvas and we’re using these amazing products to paint our face,” Ashley relates, of the similarities between her artwork and the product itself.

On her favourite colours in the collection, Ashley names the turquoise on gold leaf and soft pink with silver leaf. “I created more subdued colours for a bejewelled effect,” she says, preferring to let the product within stand out.

The eye shadows consist of stunning colours that are modern and retro at the same time. Housed in a geometric art deco package are shades like glossy primrose, glittering gold dust, deep sea green and silver mist.

The lip colour palette, with its rich, silky textures, adds voluptuous seduction to lips. The Putting on the Ritz palette with reds and gold feature a red camellia, to signify the precious holiday season. Gilded Grape, on the other hand, stars strains of purple lipstick and a pearlescent gloss, in a package featuring a hummingbird – a symbol of magical and priceless moments.

To complete the collection is a range of colour artisanal make up brushes, of luxuriously soft and supple materials to aid in flawless application. The Les Années Folles woman illustrated on the pouch dons a peacock headdress, a creature that mirrors the dazzling beauty and extravagance of the season.

Lastly, the iconic la crème rounds up the collection in a limited edition packaging inspired by the era’s glitz and glamour. The jar’s jewellery motifs splay an aurora reflection likened to the era’s poised beauty, “a confident woman who walks into a room knowing exactly who she is,” sums up Ashley.

Earlier this year, Malaysia Tatler x Clé de Peau Beauté worked on a beauty campaign featuring Tengku Chanela Jamidah.
