Bernard Chandran's Fashion Retrospective Exhibition In Kuala Lumpur Showcases His Greatest Hits
Dubbed Malaysia's King of Fashion, Dato' Sri Bernard Chandran is one of the country's most celebrated fashion designers who had attracted the attention of royalty and international celebrities like Lady Gaga, Estelle and Paloma Faith. You can now check out some of his greatest works in the past 34 years at the Dreams & Reality exhibition at Level 2, Fahrenheit88 mall. About 150 creations are on display, and they are divided into 16 themes from All White Now and Retro Futurism to the festive collections of Cheongsamku and Petang Raya. There's also a sneak peek of his spring-summer 2021 collection.
This is my Covid-19 project, a reminder that there is still beauty in the world, a bit of sparkle in times of darkness—the dream in reality.
Dato' Sri Bernard's efforts in conserving Malaysia's heritage and talents are at the centre of the exhibition, once again highlighting the savoir-faire of his craftsmanship, proving to be equally adept at designing for women and men.
There will also be workshops and masterclasses at one of the rooms designed to look like his atelier. If that isn't enough to fulfil your fashion fantasies, there is also a pop-up store where you'll be able to purchase an original Bernard Chandran creation, whether it is a silk shirt, an exotic scarf or a face mask, the must-have accessory of 2020.
“Having done this for 34 years, I always believe that knowledge needs to be shared so that it inspires or creates a dynamic community that pushes each other creatively,” says Bernard. “I’m still learning new techniques every day, but it is time for me to open my own fashion school. I truly believe the more you teach, the better you will be at your craft. This is my next chapter, my new dream."
