Having previously worked together at an advertising company, friends Zaireen Iskandar and Athiya Hamid's professional paths crossed again earlier this year when they decided to launch a jewellery brand that rides on the wave of demi-fine jewellery where high street meets artisanal craftsmanship.

Their passion for creating accessories that are modern and chic yet durable was realised with the release a collection of hoop earrings. Athiya recalls: "We were a bit worried that the people wouldn't be receptive to the hoop earrings but the reaction was great because they love the modern style and the quality of the sterling silver."

'KIN jewellery received a major boost at the Alia Bastamam runway show at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2019, showcasing not just the earrings but also pieces from the newer Chains and Charms collection.

The Chains and Charms collection are comprised of linked chains with charms set with semi-precious stones like onyx and topaz. "We wanted to be bolder and edgier with this collection to better represent the identity of our brand," shares Zaireen. It's a sleek collection with such novel features as pill lockets and stackable charms hanging from rectangular chains.

The name of the brand is inspired by the fact that they like naming their jewellery after their family members. For instance, the Anna hoops are named after Athiya's daughter.

Both women agree that 'KIN Jewellery is made for women who want a look that is easy to put together and that can take them from day to night. The brand has already found ardent fans in designer and entrepreneur Ung Yiu Lin and fitness enthusiast Datin Wira Sabrena Dani
