Mirroring its ready-to-wear clothing line, Yves Saint Laurent's fall 2016 makeup collection packs a provocative punch with rock ‘n' roll vibes and a retro 1970s feel. The "Scandal" collection, fronted by Cara Delevingne, is out now.

Like its clothing line, the makeup collection has an electric feel, with the daring decision to match bold eyes with bold lips.

"YSL Beauty creates makeup for rule-breakers! Anyone who is passionate about makeup loves to break a rule. I like to give plenty of options, so for me, it is really okay to do a strong eye and a strong lip," explains Lloyd Simmonds, YSL Beauty's creative director of makeup.

Graphic, fun and scandalous eyes

The new YSL collection includes the "Couture Palette Collector Scandal Collection" for strong and contrasting eyes. This colorful palette features powder eyeshadows in flamboyant shades with a retro feel, such as a burgundy, a vintage green and a radiant beige.

Hot on the heels of its "Full Metal Shadow" liquid eye colors, YSL Beauty has added to the range with "Full Metal Shadow The Mats." These liquid eye colors once again come pigment-packed, this time offering a brushed metal finish in three shades: Velvet Beige, a nude beige; Fur Green, a vintage green; and Suede Plum, an almost burgundy shade.

The collection's centerpiece is the "Couture Eye Marker," an eyeliner pen that sets YSL apart. This marker-style liner offers a quick, easy way to draw thick or thin lines with a matte black finish. It can be smudged while wet for a smoky effect and stays put for hours once dry.

All-round audacity

Yves Saint Laurent isn't restricting standout colors to eyes this season, with lips and nails also treated to provocative, sassy shades.

For the occasion, YSL has outed a rock-chic matte version of its "Rouge Pur Couture" lip color, available in Decadent Pink, an eye-catching fuchsia shade, Alternative Plum, a deep berry color, and Orange Seventies, a reddish orange. The iconic "Volupté Tint-In-Oil" also lands in two new shades -- Make Me Nude, a shiny beige, and Kiss Me Red -- and the "Baby Doll Kiss and Blush" two-in-one lip and cheek stain gets vibrant red and bright coral versions.

The collection's retro 1970s vibe comes to nails too, with two new shades of "La Laque Couture" -- Fur Green, a vintage green, and Vintage Plum, an autumnal purple.

Also for the new season, YSL's iconic Black Opium fragrance goes feline.
