See more of the best-dressed celebrity couples to grace the Met Gala 2023 red carpet
Good things come in twos—even at the Met Gala red carpet. The 2023 edition of the glitzy event pays tribute to the legendary Chanel fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, and guests were invited to interpret the theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, with sartorial flair. Some celebrity couples truly delivered, including one of the last to arrive: Rihanna and Asap Rocky.
Some stylish pairs—including Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, and Alexa Chung and Tom Sturridge—complemented each other in black and white outfits, nodding to Lagerfeld’s penchant for a monochrome colour palette. Other couples mixed things up, with the men taking the lead through standout outfit and jewellery choices. (Marvel film director Taika Watiti, accompanying Rita Ora, is an excellent example, with his floor-length blazer-slash-robe.)

Rihanna and Asap Rocky
Rihanna and Asap Rocky proved, yet again, that they are better together on the red carpet. The stylish couple arrived fashionably late, with a pregnant Rihanna taking the lead as a snow-white vision.
Her look was all Valentino—haute couture, no less, and specially designed for her by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. First there was the cape, covered in giant, 3D camellias—Chanel’s signature flower. Later, the Fenty billionaire pulled it down to fully show off her silk faille dress, which boasted a dramatic, five-metre-long train. Other points of note: her floral earrings, the strands of pearls around her neck (another Chanel touch) and her glorious baby bump.
Her partner, Asap Rocky, was no sartorial slouch either. The upper half of his ensemble—a black Gucci tuxedo and a skinny tie—was straightforward Karl Lagerfeld. His kilt, however, is a less obvious nod to the designer, who once wore the Scottish style staple at the end of a Chanel fashion show. Rocky, naturally, bling-ed up his look with a pair of crystal-studded jeans.
