Tory Burch and Maryam Nassir Zadeh are experts at elevating basics; for their spring 2023 collections, both took those basic a step further by layering them. While Coach went full preppy and featured them on cute, puff-sleeved dresses in candy-coloured gingham, Sandy Liang opted for a modern look and worked them into her take on the trench coat.

The sloping shoulder silhouette reminiscent of early Victorian era dresses was prevalent at the Luar and Carolina Herrera shows, reimagined for modern wearers. The Vietnamese designer showed his first ever menswear collection this season, and featured a wrapped style shirt that showed ample chest; while the womenswear brand refreshed its vision of the classic work shirt, presenting a peasant blouse styled with loose ties.
