The boho chic trend is going to be everywhere this year, especially for festival season.

Fringes are back again, as they have been for several summers, adding a boho folk touch to outfits for sunny days. This trend was seen at the Spring-Summer 2016 ready-to-wear shows, and has been given a boost by the summer festival look.

This trend is getting stronger every year, partly due to the large number of summer festivals including fashionista favorite Coachella. This year it will begin on April 15 in Indio, California, and will bring together the usual mix of music lovers, celebrities and fashion icons. Once again for the 2016 edition, the fashion and beauty looks on display will flood social media with fringes, floaty silhouettes, and soft powdery colors.

Romantic but not overly, nonchalant but chic, with a hint of the folk boho vibe: this season women will be trying to strike the right balance to nail the festival look.

In a chic style with a hint of sportswear, Paul & Joe also played the controlled nonchalance card, with long floaty split skirts.

While the silhouette was a little sharper at Valentino, with inspiration from far-off lands, the fluid dresses accessorized with head jewelry and XXL necklaces fit perfectly with the festival trend.

Fringes were a strong theme at the Spring-Summer 2016 shows, as seen here at Masha Ma.

Barbara Bui also opted for the fringe theme for Spring-Summer 2016, in leather.

At Balenciaga, the accessories – and particularly the bags – were adorned with fringes for Spring-Summer 2016.

The trend was best represented at the Chloé show last October, as part of Spring-Summer 2016 Fashion Week. Chloé, which has always had a boho feel, unveiled silk dresses with blended colors and light and airy outfits decorated with fringes and printed lace. The models had a nonchalant, carefree air.

Flowy jumpsuits, skirts and long dresses will be big news this season, along with floaty blouses decorated with fringes or pearls. Pieces in light powdery pastels, as seen at Paul & Joe, Giambattista Valli, Tommy Hilfiger, and Valentino in a very refined style, and obviously at Chloé.

In the same spirit, fringes will be the stars of the season, for both ready-to-wear and accessories. They will be seen on dresses, skirts, jackets, and even handbags, as seen at Balenciaga, Masha Ma and Barbara Bui.
