Amira Geneid is fiercely passionate about gender equality and this cause is the core of her halal cosmetics brand, Zahara. The intrepid entrepreneur founded Zahara two years ago, with a mission to bring women together through beauty.

A proud inductee into our Generation T List, Amira expresses happiness in being able to inspire other young women and bring them together.  “I’m really proud of the connection we have made with our customers and did not expect to make so many friends from the process,” she says.

She also chose to build Zahara on another foundation—her faith. Zahara’s products are designed to meet the needs of modern Muslim women. An example include its water-permeable, wudhu-friendly nail polishes. Made in Europe, Amira has since expanded her products to include eye shadows, eye liners, lip creams and after next month, mascaras.

While she prefers to enjoy every moment of her business journey rather than focusing too heavily on the future, she openly shares that Zahara was created to leave behind a legacy of empowerment.

“I want to leave behind a community of strong sisters who are chasing their dreams and lifting each other up through the good and bad,” says the Singapore-based Amira, who will be returning home to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with her close-knit family this month.

Here, watch how she does her day and night makeup this festive season in the spirit of beauty, faith and sharing.
