IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition AMG GT

Meet the IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition AMG GT, the first watch in the world to be made of boron carbide, currently the hardest ceramic known to man.

IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes-AMG has had a long and illustrious partnership that spans 10 years, best evidenced by the Ingenieur watch collection.

To celebrate the decade-long milestone, the two have come together once again to premiere a limited edition watch made from a material never before explored nor employed in the watch industry.

Meet the IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition AMG GT, which like its name suggests, pays tribute to the new Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. Unlike all its predecessors from the collection, however, it boasts a case made of boron carbide, making it the first in the world to be made with currently the hardest ceramic known to man.

It is dressed in a colour scheme inspired by the car, where black boron carbide is beautifully accented with yellow in the numerals, second hand and stitchings as a nod to the exclusive AMG ‘Solarbeam’ shade of yellow.

Its rubber strap is also made of a piece of the Mercedes-AMG GT – the innovative Dinamica microfibre that makes up the steering wheel, seat upholstery and roof lining of the car.

It runs on a mechanical automatic winding movement and a power reserve of 44 hours, complete with an integrated shock-absorption system and screw-in crown. The stylish timepiece is available in only a limited edition of 25 models worldwide.
