LVMH Watch Week 2021: These Gold Bulgari Watches Feature Actual Peacock Feathers
Divas' Dream Peacock Dischi
Limited to 50 pieces, the Divas' Dream Peacock Dischi timepiece features a marquetry dial composed of natural peacock feathers. Marquetry is an inlay technique that was popular during the Renaissance. For this watch, the artisan sorted through almost 500 feathers to pick out 24 that have the best colour and texture. Individually cut, each feather is steamed to reveal its brilliance before they are trimmed, glued and assembled on the dial.
In order to showcase the feathers in all their glory, the dial is deliberately devoid of hands and hour markers. Instead, time is read via two rotating discs set with a round and a pear-shaped diamond that respectively act as the minute and hour indicators.
Divas’ Dream Peacock Tourbillon Lumière
The skeletonised dial, achieved via the intricate process of cloisonné where the gold dial is hollowed out with laser, features a resplendent combination of feather marquetry and snow-set diamonds. Each dial takes six weeks to complete by a single artisan, and perfectly paired with a rose gold case, bezel and lugs set with brilliant-cut diamonds.
For such a magnificent watch, nothing but the best would do for its heartbeat—Bulgari has chosen the BVL 208 tourbillon movement finished by hand in haute gamme for optimum luminosity and brilliance.
Divas' Dream Peacock Diamonds
Set against a mother-of-pearl dial, Bulgari has created an outline of the peacock in champlevé. The 'feathers' are hand-painted in 14 different shades of blue and green, with some set with diamonds. Completing the lustrous aesthetic are the 18k rose gold case and bracelet, the latter decorated with the emblematic fan-shaped motif.
