Datin Nina Ismail on balancing a successful career and a happy family life

1/3Time management is key

As the founder of Peterana Kindergarten and women-only salon Capello by Nina, Datin Nina Ismail Sabri juggles her role as a successful entrepreneur, devoted wife and doting mother with aplomb. She chalks it down to having good time management.

On weekdays, she divides her time equally between her businesses, and makes sure she's home every evening to be with her husband, fashion designer Jovian Mandagie, and daughter, Jeanelle, who turns 2 this year. “I believe the balance is very healthy for me," says Nina who is currently busy planning a luxury arm of Capello.

While work has been exciting, family is never far from her mind. "You’ll never get back the time that has passed by, so I always make sure I get to spend as much time with them as possible."

2/3Holidays with family to strengthen ties

Nina believes in getting away to re-energise and regain equilibrium. As such, she loves taking vacations with her family to recharge. She reveals that she even goes on a girls’ trip with Jeanelle. “When you’re on a holiday, your mind is set to spending quality time with your family. It may be a short break but you know that you’re creating memories you’ll cherish forever.”

3/3Never forget to pamper yourself

No matter how successful you are, juggling career and family doesn't get easier. That's why whenever Nina achieves a new milestone in her life, she will reward herself with something beautiful like a watch or jewellery. “It also serves as a reminder of all the hard work that I have put in to achieve a target such as the opening of a new outlet. There’s a certain satisfaction in that.”
