From Palm Springs to Monte Carlo to Palm Beach, Piaget has looked to the summer parties of these high-class hotspots for inspiration for the new collection called "Sunny Side of Life."

L uxury watchmaker and jeweler starts a new chapter in its history this season with the "Sunny Side of Life" collection, presented alongside the recent Haute Couture Week in Paris, France. The collection captures a new outlook, channeling an uplifting spirit and celebrating the glow, contagious joy and creative vivacity inspired by a sunny disposition.

Piaget has put colour (pink, yellow, green, blue) and gold -- in all their forms -- at the heart of this high jewelry and watch collection, drawing inspiration from the late afternoon of a summer's day, when the sun's rays start to calm and thoughts turn to the oncoming evening of lighthearted, radiant moments.

From Palm Springs to Monte Carlo to Palm Beach, Piaget has looked to the summer parties of these high-class hotspots for inspiration for the "Sunny Side of Life." Nature is also a theme in this collection of over 140 "precious treasures," with nods to plant life, wind, sunlight and playful water games as a summer's day draws to its end.

Gold takes center stage

Piaget has always explored the many facets of gold in its collections, but this most noble of materials plays a particularly central role in the "Sunny Side of Life" collection, showcasing the exclusive skills and expertise of the Swiss jewelry maker. Piaget notably gives pride of place to the Palace décor, an engraving technique giving gold a fabric-like quality and an iridescent finish. This technique is used to recreate the texture of palm leaves in the "Palm El Dorado" watch, for example, and in the "Sunny Getaway" cuff-style watch in rose gold and diamonds, and the "Summer Crush" necklace.

Piaget also works its star material into an intricate new mesh effect, with interwoven gold and marquise-cut diamonds creating a rich embroidery style. This meticulous work can be seen on the "Palm El Dorado" necklace, sautoir watch-necklace and bracelet-watch.

Marquise-cut diamonds

The 55 facets of the marquise-cut diamond -- one of the brand's signatures -- are also celebrated in the "Sunny Side of Life" collection. The particular sparkle and shine of this cut is a perfect match for the radiant, sun-inspired spirit of this high jewellery collection, as seen in the "Palm Sensation" necklace, the "Green Oasis" cuff watch or the "Pink Plumage" earrings.

Piaget also teamed up with feather artist Nelly Saunier for the "Life is a Party" cuff bracelet, creating a plumage of blue diamonds and sapphires using a feather marquetry technique.
