RJ-Romain Jerome celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Titanic with a special limited edition Steampunk Titanic-DNA timepiece collection.
In the world of Swiss watchmaking, collaborations with renowned artists and celebrities are one of the favourite collectibles for watch enthusiasts, mainly for its novelty and exclusivity as most are limited editions, but none can do what RJ-Romain Jerome does – creating legendary collaborations with some of the most famous icons of our time like the Moon, Statue of Liberty and the legendary luxurious ocean liner, the Titanic.
In memory of the sunken ship, Romain Jerome has released a 100th year anniversary collection of its Titanic-DNA collection of watches themed 'Steampunk'. The retro-futuristic theme pays tribute to the ship while honouring the lives of the past and forging ahead towards a better future.
Like the first generation Titanic-DNA collection, the Steampunk edition features an oxidised bezel made from an extraordinary amalgamation of the original metal of the sunken Titanic’s hull and modern steel plates gathered from the shipyard, Harland and Wolff, where the luxurious vessel was originally built. For the enthusiast with doubts of its metal’s authenticity, rest assured that it is provided with a certification signed by the Harland and Wolff shipyard.
The watch also features a deep black carbon watch dial made from genuine coal dust recovered from the Titanic’s boiler room. The hands of the dial is shaped like the anchor of the ship with small counters and numerals created with the ship’s steam pressure gauges in mind.
Prominent nuts and bolts designs are placed on the dial to evoke the Steampunk themed machinery; it comes in three different colours for the classic chronograph and auto series – metal, red and black.
If darker shades are not your best colour, there is also an edition of sleek metallic bezel version with neon colour accents. Despite the missing rusted theme, the bezel is still created with the same amalgamated metal from the Titanic or if you are one who truly wants to evoke the spirit of luxurious ocean liner, a series of diamond encrusted bezel Steampunk Titanic-DNA are also available.
The Titanic may have left us, but a piece of the legendary ocean liner lives on in the form of Romain Jerome.
