Luxury watch brand Roger Dubuis has unveiled a new series of diva-inspired timepieces at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2016.

"Velvet" is a series of watches that pay homage to the timeless nature of beauty, with five different designs honouring various elements of femininity. The collection is based on the concept of the 'femme fatale.'

Pieces include the "Blossom Velvet," an elaborate piece described as "an ode to floral dreams" featuring a medley of inlaid pearls that give the watch a multi-dimensional aspect. The model comes in blue and pink, with a 36mm case rimmed with two rows of diamonds adorning the bezel and lugs. The split-level mother-of-pearl dial features a
marquetry motif while the tonneau -- or barrel -- shape is also accentuated by diamonds.

The "Velvet Secret Heart" includes two rows of diamonds framing the bezel and the inner bezel ring, surrounding two arcs of a circle bearing the Arabic date numerals that in turn frame radiating Roman numerals. The curved layout of the slanting Roman numerals and the extra-large upright XII and VI conjure up visions of a precious vase.

The brand is debuting "Black Velvet," a lightweight all-carbon creation comprising a tone-on-tone carbon dial and a row of 66 Paraiba tourmaline stones adorning the bezel and ‘third-lug' décor.

The haute joaillerie model "Velvet Ribbon" contains 631 diamonds totaling around 53 carats in a 38.5mm platinum case. The inner bezel ring and luminous dial feature diamond pavé and the brilliant effect is enhanced by the lack of hour markers on the watch face.

The limited-edition "Velvet by Massaro," a nod to the golden age of Hollywood, completes the collection. Designed with the shoemaker Maison Massaro, the model features a pleated Haute Couture leather strap secured by a white gold diamond-set adjustable folding clasp. The hour-markers are arranged on a satin sunburst exterior, in line with the shining, luminous theme. The piece has been made available in 88 units.

Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2016 runs through January 22.
