The versatility of a pantsuit is what the chic mother-of-3 swears by to get her effortlessly from school runs to cocktail parties.

A haircut was all it took to convince trendsetter Datin Sri Linda Chen that she needed a wardrobe redux. Along with the locks sliced off to make way for a chic bob, a youthful air replaced the mature image that the mother-of-3 confesses didn’t represent her character.

“My current look is edgier and is inspired by street style,” Linda says, running her hand over her current favourite item, a denim jacket by cult streetwear label Off-White. Her outfit du jour is usually a Gucci shirt and sneakers by adidas Yeezy, a far cry from the towering stilettoes she wears for more formal and dressy events.

But that’s not to say that the wife of Dato' Sri Daniel Chiang has boycotted her ultra-glam style altogether. “I love Carolina Herrera and Ivan Young for their evening gowns but I think the pantsuit is my default outfit as it goes with my new hair style,” she tells, before divulging her fashion favourites.

1. From Lady-Like To Casual Chic

I used to go for the very tai-tai and Chanel look but since I cut my hair short for the very first time in my life last year, I decided to revamp my wardrobe completely. I couldn’t carry off that lady-like look with my short hair so I changed everything and opted for an edgy streetwear look. I enjoy fashion but I don’t chase after trends. I veer towards classic and everlasting looks and I love British designers and London style. Over the last two years, my day-to-day dressing is comfy and casual – usually an oversized jacket paired with T-shirt and jeans, shorts or skirt with trainers.

I look to Audrey Hepburn and Victoria Beckham for their dressy and super glamorous looks, Gigi and Bella Hadid and stars like Ariana Grande for young trends.

“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different” – It’s a Coco Chanel quote which I truly believe in.

Louis Vuitton makes the most comfortable ballet flats – I’ve told all my friends to get them. The other 2 are my watch, a reward to myself when I started by own business, and a pair of large sunglasses to protect my eyes and skin from UV rays!

5. Her Influence For Jewellery

My husband Dato' Sri Daniel has a better eye for jewellery than me so most of my jewellery are chosen by him. He likes unique and unusual pieces which are meaningful, like the jade bangle he bought at an auction and the Cartier Panther ring… I’m influenced by his taste now!

I love wearing trousers for smart casual events and the pantsuit is perfect as it looks chic, subtly edgy and represents who I am and my personality. It also goes with my new hair cut!
