Get up close and personal with some of the watches that made a buzz at this year’s Baselworld at Time Kulture: Revolution in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from July 12 – 22, 2018. Organised by watch retailer Swiss Watch Gallery, the fifth edition of Time Kulture will gather nine major names in Swiss horology, among them Bell & Ross, Graham, TAG Heuer and Tudor. Themed motor-racing, the Central Court of the shopping mall will be transformed into a race-like setting complete with asphalt-esque flooring, racing lanes, and chequered flags to drive home the close link between watchmaking and the automobile and aviation industries. Watch out for the Oris Bear mascot representing the Swiss watchmaker’s world of culture as well as the pin-up girls of Graham’s Chronofighter Nose Art. Nespresso will also be having a tasting bar on site. But the main attractions remain the watches, so here's a closer look at some of the highlights from all nine brands.

Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Burt Munro Tribute Limited Edition

Created to celebrate the achievements of amateur speedway racer Burt Munro, the automatic chronograph features a silver dial that has been sandblasted to recreate the surface of the Bonneville Salt Flats where Munro set the 1,000cc record of 296.11km/h with his modified Indian Scout motorcycle. The tachymeter scale on the stainless steel case highlights this record in miles per hour (184mph). Munro’s lucky number 35 is displayed at ‘9’ against a striking yellow background.

Longines Flagship Heritage 60th Anniversary

Actress Kate Winslet, who is also Longines’ Ambassador of Elegance, loves the timeless quality of the Flagship model with its slim profile and minimalist brushed silver dial with a small seconds counter. We can’t help but to agree with her.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114

The highlight of this piece is Calibre 114, a milestone for the Swiss watchmaker as its fifth in-house movement. Building on a base that started with Calibre 110, it added a 24-hour time zone that is indicated by a central pointer hour hand to the 10-hour power reserve and date.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Lady Calibre 9 Automatic

Functional and pretty - two words you don't often use together for a dive watch. But this diver is just that. Water-resistant up to 300m, it comes with three dial options: practical black, mother-of-pearl and, for something dressier with a little flash, set with 11 diamonds.

Tissot Seastar 1000 Gent Automatic Dive

With depth resistance up to 300m, this watch proves to be a worthy companion in the oceans with its optimal legibility (think luminescent hands and user-friendly diving scale) and more importantly, a reliable movement with pin-sharp precision and 80-hour power reserve in the form of the in-house Powermatic 80.
