Limited to 250 pieces, the first AP x Marvel watch comes off a hugely successful auction of a unique piece in white gold that sold for a whopping US$5.2 million
On April 10, Audemars Piguet held a live auction to celebrate its partnership with Marvel Entertainment. Held to benefit non-profit organisations First Book and Ashoka dedicated to improving the lives of low-income communities through education, the main item on the block was a unique Royal Oak Concept "Black Panther" Flying Tourbillon in white gold that eventually sold for a whopping US$5.2 million.
The watch features purple accents to mimic the colour of vibranium, a fictional purple metal in the Black Panther lore, as well as a dial adorned with a white gold 3D recreation of Wakanda superhero in a heroic pose above the flying tourbillon.
