The pandemic has caused Watches & Wonders and Baselworld, which were supposed to happen this month, to be shelved. But we can take heart that some of the big-name exhibitors at these watch fairs are still creating excitement in the market with these novelties

Breguet Classique 7337

Tatler Asia

This is an exquisite watch for those who appreciate the finer details. Intricate motifs decorate the dial, from the barley grain on the outer edge and the Clous de Paris pattern in the centre to the checkerboard pattern for the small seconds counter. Two apertures showing the day and date at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock respectively are in a shape reminiscent of historic pocket watches.

The moon phase features a moon in shiny relief and matte grooves, and flanked on both sides by engraved clouds. The blue background are dotted with white dots to depict a star-filled sky.

The 18k white gold case is slim and classic, housing an extra-thin automatic movement with 18k gold rotor.

Montblanc Summit 2+ Smartwatch

Tatler Asia

Montblanc has taken the design codes of the 1858 Collection – think bold, large numerals, vintage hands, useful functions for travel – and adapted them for the Summit 2+, its latest smartwatch. The steel case houses the Snapdragon 3100 platform, a 1.28-inch AMOLED screen, a built-in speaker, and, for the first time, cellular connectivity in the Wear OS by Google on Android phones.

Bell & Ross BR V2-93 GMT Blue

Tatler Asia

With functionality and legibility as its guiding principle, this GMT timepiece is a nod to transatlantic travel with a blue dial and a bi-directional rotating bezel in anodised aluminum. The 24-hour scale on the bezel is divided into grey for daytime and blue for nighttime, the second time zone indication aided by a hand with a red arrow tip.

The 41mm satin-polished steel case is complemented with either a matching bracelet or grey and blue elastic canvas strap.

Chopard L.U.C Perpetual Twin

Tatler Asia

Perpetual calendars with their multiple calendar indications can be intimidating but the L.U.C Perpetual Twin somehow manages to ‘uncomplicate’ the complication with a friendly design suited for everyday wear.

Framed by a 43mm case, the dial boasts an elegant layout of sub-dials – day at 9 o’clock, month at 3 o’clock with the leap month display hiding ‘February’, and the seconds at 6 o’clock. The highlight is the big date, displayed through two large apertures at 12 o’clock. Powering them is a COSC-certified automatic movement with two barrels that provide 65 hours of power reserve.

For the first time since its launch in 2016, the Perpetual Twin is available in rose gold case, and complemented with a green dial with sunburst motif.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra

Tatler Asia

The Swatch Group-owned watchmaker has introduced to its popular Aqua Terra line two new dial colours – blue and green. The dial is also distinguished by the horizontal teak motif inspired by the wooden decks of sailboats. Available with bracelet or leather strap in matching colour.

Breitling Top Time Limited Edition

Tatler Asia

Designed for the “young and active professionals” in the ’60s, Breitling is reviving this chronograph in almost similar design. The dial is a distinctive combination of white and dusty dark blue, complemented with red hands. The style may be retro but the heartbeat is contemporary – the Breitling Caliber 23 certified by the COSC for superlative chronometry.

Limited to 2,000 pieces, it is the first Breitling watch to feature a blockchain-based digital passport that verifies the authenticity and ownership of the watch with a single click.

Chanel J12 Paradoxe

Tatler Asia

Fashion’s most enduring luxury watch model was rendered in black ceramic when it debuted in 2000. In 2003, white ceramic was introduced.

Today, Chanel’s iconic J12 is available in black and white ceramic on a single timepiece. This was achieved by combining two blocks of ceramic, one in white and one in black, and held together by a metallic support, into which the sapphire caseback is set. So seamless are these attachments that you’d never guess the watch was made of two separate ceramic blocks.
